Affliction 2: Tim Sylvia vs Josh Barnett

In an exlcusive interview with Chron.com, Tim Sylvia talks about his recent fight, upcoming fights and general thoughts:

Tim Sylvia doesn’t go into much detail about who he will be fighting but here at MMA Chump we narrowed it down to Pedro Rizzo or Josh Barnett. Out of the two, Josh Barnett seems the likely contender to fight Tim Sylvia. Both fighters will fight anyone. Personally, I want it to be Josh Barnett so Sylvia can get beaten again. If Josh Barnett is to set to face off against Sylvia and wins the fight, it seems like it would be clear that Barnett would get a title shot against Fedor. The official fight card will be announced on August 6th 2008. We will bring more details after this press conference.

I honestly don’t see anyone in Affliction that has a chance at beating Fedor unless we see a Couture vs Fedor fight in early 2009, granted all the legal proceedings go to plan with Couture and the UFC. The recent rumor of Tito signing to fight Sobral is exciting as well. Affliction continues to get the cream of the crop to fight for them and could be known as the place to fight for heavyweights.
