According to Yahoo Sports, Tito Ortiz is set to face Renato Sobral at Affliction 2 on October 11th with the other big fight being Fedor vs Arlovski. Tom Atencio would neither confirm nor deny the fight. All fight card details will be released August 6th during a press conference.

Ortiz’s last fight with the UFC was on May 24th meaning his 60 day clause ended last week however, Atencio seemed to think they could not talk to Tito until August 4th. Probably a ploy to throw people off track and make the announcement on August 6th that much more exciting.

Sobral told MMAJunkie.com that Ortiz is the fight he wants.

“That’s my dream fight,” a smiling Sobral said. “I’m looking for another guy. Wait for the name. It’s coming. I think Tom (Atencio) is going to bring a name for me. And I’ll be here to kick his ass.”

If anyone had the best shot at getting Tito Ortiz to fight for their organization, it would be Affliction with the close ties to Donald Trump, Tito and him almost look like high school buddies. Tito did participate in Trump’s Celebrity version of the Apprentice.

I suppose all the rumors will be set to rest on August 6th when the fight card for Affliction 2 is set. I for one would like to see Tito sign. Even though most of you know I don’t like Tito Ortiz I think he’s a good addition to a growing organization and will help fight cards be more complete in future events if they can continue to keep adding big fighters to their cards so they can produce monthly events like the UFC does. I’m rooting for you Affliction!
