Fedor vs. Arlovski Confirmed

Kevin Iole first broke this yesterday and Mat talked about it earlier but I’m so excited I had to post since I have to wait until October to see the fight.  Fedor Emelianenko will face Andrei Arlovski in Affliction’s next show in Vegas on October 11th. 

This wouldn’t have been nearly as good if we had not seen last week’s fights.  Arlovski to me was still in his readjusting stage and his fights up to his last had been boring.  That changed when someone finally returned Arlovski’s pit bull to him (and received a nice reward I hear) and he totally outclassed Ben Rothwell. 

Fedor was a mythical god in fighting that seemed to stay valid as the top fighter by not fighting any top fighters.  I am by no means a fan of Tim Sylvia and think he’s over-rated but when you see a guy that’s 6′8″ and 263lbs get knocked down and choked out by a guy thats 6′0 and 235lbs in 36 seconds you have to be in awe. 

I think the Arlovski vs. Fedor match-up is a lot more interesting than the Sylvia fight.  Both are explosive and very athletic and present a more even match up.  Because of that, I feel Arlovski has a better shot than Sylvia did.   

A fight between Tito Ortiz and Renato “Babalu” Sobralis also being thrown around however I’m not sure it would happen this show.  Ortiz still hasn’t signed on with an organization.  I imagine Jenna Jameson has forced him into a hold out.  As soon as someone tells Jenna Tito can’t negotiate a fight contract along with ownership of an organization and be an executive on Trump’s board, he can probably get a deal done quickly. 

I’m not sure the under card will be as mystical and good as Affliction’s first.  I don’t care.  I want to see the main fight and will be counting down the days until it comes.
