Affliction (2) Day of Reckoning October 11th 2008

We can stop referring to it as Affliction 2 as the name has been set to Affliction Day of Reckoning.  The poster above is very enticing and once again I am excited about the fights.  I don’t care that Fedor isn’t fighting.  Arlovski vs Barnett is going to be just as exciting as the other fights between them.

While the fight card isn’t finalized here are the rumored fights thus far:

According to Sherdog.com, a spot on Affliction’s “Day of Reckoning” fight card has been offered to IFL heavyweight champion Vladimir Matyushenko and Pride veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

A bout between IFL heavyweight champion Roy Nelson and Xtreme Couture fighter Jay White has been confirmed by MMANews.com.

• Andrei Arlovski vs Josh Barnett
• Vitor Belfort vs Matt Lindland
• Tito Ortiz vs Renato Sobral
• Vladimir Matyushenko vs Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
• Roy Nelson vs Jay Whiteim
• Tim Sylvia vs Pedro Rizzo
• Aleksander Emelianenko vs Mike Pyle

We at MMA Chump were also rumoring about a Tim Sylvia vs Josh Barnett fight which won’t happen now so the fight we think Tim Sylvia will be up against will be Pedro Rizzo.  It just makes sense now.

The winner of the Arlovski vs Barnett fight is obviously the top contender to fight Fedor for the belt, however Randy Couture vs Fedor Emelianenko will probably take a higher priority.  Meaning Arlovski vs Fedor or Barnett vs Fedor wouldn’t happen until April of 09.

Tito signing with Affliction is rumored but not yet confirmed from a valid source.  We are still working on getting the details together for you.  As soon as we have the video of the Affliction Day of Reckoning press conference, we ‘ll let you see it.  Stay tuned for more details as this fight card and event get finalized as we’ll be sure to bring you the breaking news as we hear it.
