Everyone is discussing who is the best pound for pound fighter. While I personally don’t claim Fedor is the THE pound for pound best fighter, I do have him in my top 5. Don’t get in a hissy fit, Fedor claims he’s not the best either.
“I don’t consider myself on top of the pedestal. I have certain weaknesses and I make certain mistakes. Of course, that is frustrating, because like any athlete, I strive to get better each day. I know a lot of the media and the fans want to say I’m the best. I appreciate that, but that’s not how I consider myself.”
While he holds the WAMMA Heavyweight championship belt (which we don’t feel really means much but that’s a whole other story), it doesn’t clear him as the best pound for pound fighter or even the best heavyweight. In my eyes he’s the best heavyweight but not the pound for pound.
“This is my job, and to be honest with you, if I didn’t have to work this job, I probably wouldn’t,” he said, chuckling. “It’s how I make my living. It’s even tough to accept this is what I do for the living.”
If I read this correctly it means if he wasn’t a fighter, he wouldn’t even follow it. I have a hard time believing it.
