First Fedor, and now Vitor Belfort is out for Affliction’s second fight promotion, “Day Of Reckoning”.
Belfort broke his hand during the match against Terry Martin during Affliction “Banned”. It looks like because of ongoing complications he was forced to pull out of his second fight against Matt Lindland on October 11th.
MMAWeekly Radio spoke to Affliction Vice President, Tom Atencio.
“Vitor is out, I spoke with him I think yesterday and he told me,” said Atencio. “Actually, it was on Tuesday we had a conversation for about an hour or so, and yeah, I guess he broke his hand in two places is what he told me and he had been having 2, 3 and 4 opinions on it. He finally got the opinion that he wanted I guess and they told him to step out for a while.”
This is another major blow to the start up organization. Belfort has the background and explosiveness to be one of Affliction’s premier fighters and draws. But now with Fedor and Belfort out, the star power is flickering. This bodes well for Tito Ortiz as Affliction needs something or someone big to get them over the 100,000 PPV mark.

Wow, Atencio’s quote sounds rather pissed off. I wonder if he meant it that way but the way he said it sounds like Vitor was looking for a way out of the fight.
