Tom Antencio says he doesn’t think anyone is talking to Tito Ortiz right now on the Affliction side. MMA Chump recently interviewed Affliction president Tom Atencio.
Tom told MMA Chump:
I have spoken with Tito. He wasn’t ready for the October show but I really haven’t spoken to him since. Maybe somebody else, maybe on the Trump side, their talking to him but as far as I know, no one is talking to him right now.
Tom also answered if we would see Tito in the January show.
Anythings a possibility but as far as you know like I said right now, I haven’t spoken to him. Until I do, I can’t see any answers on that.
I have no reason not to believe Tom but he does leave a door open with his “maybe on the Trump side” comment. It would certainly make sense if that was happening since Tito has a relationship with Trump from his appearance on “The Apprentice.” I imagine Tito hopes he can get more out of Trump because of their relationship and Trump thinks he can negotiate better and talk some common sense into Tito about his lofty expectations.
The other common factor here is Golden Boy Promotions. Affliction announced their partnership with the promotion company earlier this month. So how does this relate to Tito?
Tito is quoted in a new feature article in OCMETRO saying:
I have a business model in my head. De la Hoya has done that with Golden Boy Promotions, and I’d like to do that for mixed martial arts. Maybe it wasn’t a coincidence that I was there training at his camp.
You decide how close or far Tito is from signing with an organization…

Maybe it’s because I actually caught his tone in real time but it sounded to me that Tom was kind of fed up with the whole Tito talk and didn’t really care anymore. That they moved on with Golden Boy rather than having Tito take that role.

Someone getting fed up with Tito? Imagine that.
