I held off on posting the information as I was looking to get a statement from Tom Atencio about Andrei Arlovski vs Roy Nelso on Elite XC Heat fight card coming up on October 4th. We will update you when we get some information on what the reasoning behind this was.
However, I can tell you that Tom is open to joining forces in certain situations to make sure a fight happens. He stated so regarding Couture and Fedor that he would work with the UFC to make the fight happen.
I could continue to speculate on what each side gains from this but the bottom line is there are too many factors that could make this deal better for one side than the other. I do think this could set up Elite XC to be the free side of Affliction and making Affliction the PPV side of Elite XC if the two teamed up.
I did state a while back that a merger between the two could work out well for the two underdog organizations making them a force to reckon with when you combine the fighters from each organization and the backing that Affliction has over Elite XC. The results could be well worth it.
