So the celtics wrapped it up last night by destroying the lakers.
I can't believe how quick this was over. The lakers destroyed the west and the celtics struggled with the east and then the celtics had no problem with the lakers. This doesn't say much for the west.
While we focus our time and energy on MMA, I thought it appropriate after the demolition of the high-power Lakers.
Being an avid Heat fan, all I ever hear is how weak the East is. The East doesn't have any good scorers, how they are too slow, ect...
Did anyone ever think maybe its because they play defense?
The statement Defense Wins Championships has never been so true. The Garden was singing "NaNa NaNa NaNa NaNa Hey Hey Hey Good Bye" with 5 minutes left in the 4 quarter.
They completely shut down Kobe Bryant. Through the series they made him look average at best. The Lunch pail boys were able to out rebound, out defend, and out score the lakes. Maybe Kobe should have gotten that trade.
How can you pick a player of the game?
Do you go with Kevin Garnet Who finished with 26 points on 10 of 18 shooting with 14 rebounds?
Do you go with Ray Allen who scored 26 points who was 7 for 9 from 3 point land? (Setting a finals record)
Do you go with Rajon Rondo with 21 points and 6 HUGE steals?
I could continue on and on, but the true player of the game is Doc Rivers.
Check out the Celtics stats
They had only 7 Turnovers
They had 4 blocked shots
They had a record setting number of Steals at 18
They had 33 Assists
They had 48 Rebounds
14 Offensive Rebounds
They shot 86% for Free Throw
They were 50% from 3 point land
and they ended with a victory of 131 to 91 shooting 49.4%
Taken individually these numbers mean nothing, but as a whole show the commitment of players saying they were going to do something from the beginning and accomplish it. These players embody the word Ubuntu and should excite every sports fan in the country.
These players came together and won. Your team could do the same thing.
