What are your thoughts on this fight? Lawler is a top 5 middleweight and a few creditable MMA sites has him listed as #2. And has been in some epic fights. Lawler vs Diaz and Lawler vs Smith were great.
Shamrock is a legend and a very underrated fighter. He's defeated legends of the sport when they were at their prime, with the exception of Bas Rutten. He defeated Bas before Bas was in his prime and lost the next 2 fights with him. A win for Shamrock would be huge for him and should definitely earn him a spot on the top 10 rankings. And probably set up a rematch against Cung Le.

whoa whoa, are you talking about Robbie Lawler...who formerly held the title at EliteXC who got KO'd after being a cocky s.o.b. against Diaz in the UFC?

I sure am. I'm not sure the fight is signed, but it's the fight they want since Strikeforce bought out Elite XC. Honestly I don't think he's #2 MW material. But it should be a good fight. Maybe we'll see more of Cung Le this year when he's done making movies.

I've always enjoyed watching Nick fight. He's always entertaining and always brings it and because of that he's one of my favorites. With the exception of the KJ Noons fight. That was brutal of Nick trying to outbox a pro boxer.
I don't know about Nick at middleweight. He may be a little small for that division and I think Cung Le would lay a beating on him if they ever fought. His comfortable weight is around 160-165.. so I don't know why he doesn't just fight at WW.
As for Shamrock, he's a Legend at Pancrase and the early days of MMA. I like him but I don't know if he still has what it takes to fight the top tier fighters and win. But he is fun to watch.
What's even funnier is that Ken is most likely gonna fight Tank Abbott.
A shoot fighter that has over the years developed a jaw as formidable as an infants rock hard impervious skull, against an old fat bearded striker with no wrestling and gasses in less than 30 seconds. The fight just screams Gold.
I predicts a double K.O, with Ken shooting for a leg with Abbot collapsing on top of him in crippling pain from the 5 steps it took him to reach the center of the cage. Both will be stretchered out of the arena, and can both retire Legends of the sport with whatever dignity they have left.
That being said, I'm gonna watch it anyways. Oh yeah, Diaz vs Frank!! My money's on Nick, Franks getting a little old for the sport. I feel Frank and Nick would be even at the stand up (maybe Frank my have the slight edge judging how he did vs Le) and Nicks BJJ will surpass Franks submission skills and he'll pull out a slick armbar sometime in R2. That and I'm also a Diaz fan. But like I said, I'm not sure about Nick at MW. Just my opinion though.
