According to MMA Weekly, Affliction will use the unified MMA rules.

This ruling of course will allow the fighters to use elbows on the ground, which has been the most glaring difference between many of the U.S. fight promotions. While organizations such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship and EliteXC have always allowed elbows under the unified rules, other promotions such as the International Fight League and Strikeforce have taken away elbows as a legal maneuver.

Fedor Emelianenko and Tim Sylvia are the headliner for the Affliction Banned Fight Card and are fighting for the WAMMA Heavyweight Title.  This will be the first champion under WAMMA.

“You never know what’s going to happen in the future, but we’re working with WAMMA right now, and if the relationship continues the way it is then absolutely.”

WAMMA is the World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts. WAMMA is a multifaceted, fan and fighter-forward organization dedicated to promoting the integrity, legitimacy and longevity of Mixed Martial Arts.  You can view more about them here.  We’ll have more info on WAMMA here shortly and are working to get an interview.
