Daily TKO’s for Friday August 22nd:

  • Sherdog – Former International Fight League welterweight champion Jay Hieron (Pictures) has verbally accepted an offer to take on Drew Fickett (Pictures) at Affliction 2 “Day of Reckoning” on Oct. 11 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
  • MMA Junkie – The very-public feud between EliteXC Vice President Jared Shaw and 160-pound champion KJ Noons’ manager Mark Dion has now led to the official cancellation of the proposed Oct. 4 bout.
  • MMA Weekly – The last remaining International Fight League champion, Wagnney Fabiano, has signed on with a new organization. The IFL’s only ever 145-pound champion will now compete in World Extreme Cagefighting
  • UFC – Chuck Mindenhall, UFC – May 15, 1998. That was the last time that Dan Henderson won in the UFC—ten years and two Pride belts ago. To say he’s a hungry fighter heading into his middleweight bout with Rousimar Palhares at UFC 88 in Atlanta is an understatement. Yet to say he’s washed up after dropping back-to-back title fights with Quinton Jackson (205) and Anderson Silva (185) respectively, well, that’s just plain crazy talk.
