With the collapse of Elite XC, fighters such as Jake Shields have a cloudy future.  Jake Shields was the most promising welterweight in the Elite XC promotion showing incredible BJJ skills and having defended his now meaningless title, where this fighter will fight next remains unclear.

Affliction would likely pay Jake well however the talent pool is slim and Shields already holds a win over one of the fighters.  The UFC seems a likely place for Jake to go.  The Welterweight pool is stacked with the most elite fighters at this point and time and could likely hold his own against everyone in the division.  Some would argue that Jake could beat GSP… I don’t believe that to be true at this point in time but Jake could very well become the next big thing.

Looking at it, it seems that the UFC is the only thing that makes sense for Jake Shields.  Until he signs a deal, we will continue to speculate on where he goes.
