After reading an article on MMA Junkie about XFC, we contacted XFC to speak with them and our inquiry was returned very quickly from none other than the President of XFC himself.
Xtreme Fighting Championship started about 2.5 years ago. It was started because the founders saw other business models of MMA and didn’t see the perfect model that they thought was needed. What better way to get the business model out there that you want than to start your own organization?
John Prisco, President of XFC, was a big boxing fan and even managed fighters. John got into MMA several years ago and doesn’t see other promotions necessarily as “competition”. While watching MMA, he admits that UFC and Pride were his main source. He likes anything that is good for the sport of MMA.
They have recently started building training facilities and their new facility in Brandon, FL will be a 6,000 square foot facility and franchises will be available as well as they expand to nationwide with their facilities. Recently, as you probably read on MMA Junkie, XFC has also signed a tv deal with HDNet.
XFC does have female MMA on their cards so maybe this will be a future venue for Gina Carano as the show gets larger. They have done several support the troup events. They don’t take a political stance on the war but do show the support for the troups at the events. With military ID, you get in free… very cool.
Their first pro MMA show will be in Tennessee on February 20th and they plan on touring around TN for a while before heading back to the Tampa area. For those of you that want more information on XFC, check out their website.

Best of luck to XFC. Are they going to participate with WAMMA? What is their view ? Do they allow fighters to fight in other groups besides their own?

I didn’t post it… doh… they allow their fighters to participate in other events as long as it doesn’t interfere with XFC.
I’m not sure on the WAMMA thing but I’ll find out.

He also said it’s hard to say that Fedor isn’t the best pound for pound fighter… easily the best heavyweight pound for pound.
