Sherdog.comhas reported that a fight between Ken Shamrock and Kimbo Slice will happen at Elite XC’s October 4th show on CBS.
Shamrock is coined as “the worlds most dangerous man” and he’s a UFC hall of famer. Granted that nickname came about many years ago and Shamrock is now 44 and hasn’t won a fight since 2004. Tito Ortiz totally destroyed him in their last two meetings in the UFC in 2006. Shamrock lost again in March of this year to Robert Berry.
This is exactly what Elite XC needed to regain viewers and stay in business. They paid a lot to have the Internet success from Kimbo Slice but viewers dropped off tremendously in their second CBS promotion. Elite XC has canceled shows but claimed to be in fine financial shape. We have learned from the UFC that it is very easy to be in the red and it is safe to assume all the other organizations are in the red besides for the UFC at this point.
Is this what Elite XC needs to stay around the fight game for years to come? No, but it does keep them viable for another month.
