Antonio Silva remains suspended for anabolic steroid use after his appeals hearing with the California State Athletic Commission. The CSAC has upheld the 1 year suspension of Silva. Silva tested positive after beating Justin Eilers and claiming the belt for his weight class (which really means nothing now anyways).

Silva’s camp was very strong in stating that there is no way this was true as Silva has a condition where the effects of taking these steroids could have resulted in death and wouldn’t be worth the risk to take. That the existing medical condition was known to show false results for positive testing of steroids. It was a nice argument but it didn’t look like the jury bought it. The CSAC came back with a 5 – 0 ruling for upholding the suspension.

Before, Elite XC was behind the fighter the whole way supporting him. Now with Elite XC’s demise, there’s no one to support the fighter with this. It will be interesting to see if Silva can find a home in another organization after this ordeal. We don’t think he will but who knows.
