Who is the best pouind for pound fiughter in the world? I have come to the conclusion that it’s not the man that UFC has advertised as such. The best pound for pund fighter will be decided once and for all in the main event at UFC 94. At the end of that fight we will know who the best fighter in the world is. It’s not the most popular, not the coolest, not the most badass… it’s the B-E-S-T.

We have the best welterweight in the world against the best lightweight in the world: George St. Pierre vs BJ Penn. I personally am going to pick GSP for this fight because he is incredibly skilled in all forms of MMA but BJ is also an incredible fighter his stand up skills increase after every fight, win or lose and he also has a deadly ground game.
The reason I place these two on such a higher level than Silva’s is because Anderson Silva doesnt know what its like to be on a roll and get completely upset and embarassed and have to go back to basics and rethink his entire game plan and how he fights so he can come back and be better than he was. He hasn’t had to do it and GSP did it against Serra. Penn bounced back off of 2 huge losses to GSP and Matt Hughes and has won his last 3 fights. I honestly beleive that either one of these guys could fight Anderson Silva and score a decisive win wether it be ko,tko,or submission.

I would rethinkabout about the kindof fighter Anderson Silva is before making a statement like that. Well St. Pierre and Penn are both talented fighters, Anderson Silva is in a league of his own. Anderson Silva has never suffered a humiliating defeat because there’s simply nobody out there good enough. St Pierre lost to Matt Serra for crying out load and even though he avenged that loss it shows the St Pierre is far from being the bestt pound for pound fighter ( in my mind at least). As for Penn, look at what Hughs did to him! I just can’t see those kind of things happening to Silva. The closest call Silva had in my oppinoin was that first round of the Dan Henderson fight. I will have to admit that Silva may have been saved by the bell because he was getting pounded on! But besides that Silva has avoided getting caught in sticky situations and will always finish his fights. In all due respect, Silva would destroy both St. Pierre ans Penn.

he was on the brink of losing to patrick cote so i would rethink how good little andy silva is before you say that he would destroy the two most well rounded top fighters in the world

I don’t think he was on the brink of losing to Cote. I think he would beat both of those fighters and we may get to see GSP vs Silva.

He was really losing huh. That’s why Cote Tkoed himself. Did You even see that fight! Cote was just trying to avoid getting hit the whole time. He might of scored a couple of meaningless jabs if that!

I also think GSP’s gonna be in a whole lot of hot water when he has to fight guys like Silva, Franklin and Henderson. Okami as well posed a threat with his speed and power.

First off Cote never was winning the fight he bowed out of (and due to his knee should never have been in). Silva studies his opponents and ussually starts slow. He finds his opening and attacks like a Panther in the wild. GSP is a bad man but has not shown the abiltiy or interest to jump weight classes (Silva has put the challenge out there) which Penn has aka both the GSP and Hughs both fights were taken on short notice also. When focused and well conditioned Penn is a better than GSP as we will all see in January. As for Silva vs Penn it would be like predicting Jet Li versus Bruce Lee both bad men but due to circumstance (weight in Penn and Silvas case) we can only speculate who is the best. Silva has yet to be put down in the UFC. Personally I enjoy watching both and until Silva meets his match my personal opiion is Slva is the pound for pound champ..
