Dana’s Announcement

As we eagerly wait for Tuesday June 16th, the blogs and wires are going crazy attempting to predict Dana’s “mind-blowing” announcement. In a recent inteview with ESPN the Magazine, Dana White spilled the beans that Liddell would be fighting Evans in Atlanta GA in September expressing that we had no idea what he had planned.

He then went on to say “I’m going to make an announcement next week that is going to blow people’s minds. That deal is done, but my employees don’t even know yet. I’m renting out a place next Thursday and I’m going to tell them. Then we’ll make the announcement later that day. It’s an indicator of where this business is going over the next five years.”

Of course by now we all know that his announcement was delayed and has been pushed back until tomorrow.

Many of the other MMA sites seem to believe that Dana fucked up. That Dana mistakenly was preparing to announce being sanctioned in New York, and that bill failed today. But having followed Zuffa since the beginning I find it highly improbable that he would claim the deal is done, and it not be. Dana only speaks the truth.

The reality is whether or not its the ESPN or FOX Deal, Mayweather joining the UFC, or something else Dana has something that will usher in the next step for the UFC and Mixed Martial Arts.

He has recently leaked a free Spike TV fight that will compete with Affliction Banned. This fight could see Brandon Vera dropping to 205 to fight Wanderlei Silva a fight that will certainly have a HUGE drawing.

Dana has also commented that if BJ wanted to he could move up to fight GSP again. He’s also hinted that there are no more good fights for Anderson Silva and that he would move up to the 205 and challenge the best fighters in the world.

More so than any other organization, Dana has plenty of aces in his hand, and with so many great fighters can at any point put into chaos the MMA world. Just see how many blogs have been posted here and other places regarding Dana and his announcement. Who else has that type of power?
