Lorenzo Fertitta got a Master of Business Administration at New York University as in September was ranked the #380 richest in America and #897 in the world by Forbes Magazine. His net work is $1.3 billion. Anytime someone with this much money says they are going to focus all of their energy on something, if you are a fan of that something, you should be excited a la Donald Trump joining Affliction.
With Fertitta’s help the UFC will finally be successful internationally. Fertitta spoke about going into mainland Europe, Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Baltic countries, Russia,Dubai, China, South Korea, Japan, and India. He spoke highly about India saying:
“Think about this for a second: India has 350 million men between the ages of 18 and 34, and that’s our key demographic. “The magnitude of these markets is staggering.
“The UFC is going to have a global footprint in the not-too-distant future. We’re already working on furthering our position in Brazil. This is getting so big that it demanded I spend more time with it.”
Its funny to me reading bloggers post how this doesn’t mean anything to them, or how weak economically India is. Stop think so short-term. Why is soccer so large? Because its played on every continent in the world. As the UFC grows in popularity it will literally create the next stars of Mixed Martial Arts. It will open up new avenues, product lines, and things We can’t even fathom today. Fertitta will be able to focus on making these business deals while Dana will be able to focus on promoting.
Fertitta is quoted as:
“From a sporting standpoint, we believe that our potential to grow goes beyond that of the NFL or the NBA or Major League Baseball, because of the fact that our product translates so well internationally.
I don’t think people realize the magnitude of this, but we’re 300 million households worldwide.”
With Fertitta working on more households and Dana working on keeping the 300 million of us happy, the UFC is poised to not only go public in the next 5 years but succeed.
