On June 7th Thiago Alves shocked many beating Matt Hughes at the catchweight of 174.

In that fight Hughes tore two knee ligaments. It is reported by The Fight Network that Hughes suffered an MCL Tear and PCL Tear when Matt fell to the ground after a HUGE knee by Alves in the 2nd Round.

Hughes advised that there won’t be any surgery for now, but this does certainly explain why the fight ended so quickly.

The real explanation for why the fight ended is that Matt Hughes is a has been and needs to retire.
