So Dana has again released that he has a big announcement and once again has been postponed. What was supposed to be released tomorrow has been moved back until Tuesday, June 17th. No big deal I suppose as he’s done it in the past. Hopefully this time he at least delivers an actual big surprise.
But with any sport with die hard fans… when announcements are scheduled in advance with no clear information, rumors begin to spread. Here are some of the popular rumors about Dana White’s announcement that I’ve come across:
While this could be exciting, it doesn’t seem to be big enough to make all this fuss and scheduling over.
Some feel that the announcement is regarding Dana either selling or buying the UFC in it’s entirety. I’m not sure this could be justified either.
I would say out of all the rumors going around, this one seems the most legit. With the recent launch of EXC on CBS, NBC is probably looking for a return hit to capture this audience on primetime TV. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if this is what the ruckus is over.
Talk of moving the Lesnar fight to the Cable TV during the Affliction Banned Pay-Per-View event has been increasing in popularity on what Dana’s announcement will be about.
(Edit: Thanks to InfiniteX for finding this other big rumor)
All I can say is regardless of the announcement it better be a good one this time and not making every person anxious. Surprise us Dana but don’t piss us off.

It could be moving Brock Lesnar and Heath Herring to Spike on July 19th to compete with Affliction….

I think all of those would have been ok, not worthy of so much drama. I suppose maybe they could cut the price of the pay per view or show it for free. Maybe they will start their own network, like versus. Other than something like that,(HA HA yeah right) whatever Dana White’s big UFC announcement is, I doubt seriously it will be worth the hype. Like I saw on another website, “maybe he saved a ton of money on his car insurance.”

Mat feels the same way as you Shaydie, he’s been telling me for 2 weeks how not “mind-blowing” the announcement is, but i see it differently. I think if he announces a deal with ESPN it will literally change the world of MMA as we know it.

I think that the public would have been better served if there had been a deal like that. But, now we can wonder with one of the Fertita’s on the front line what may happen next. Will the UFC and MMA turn into the thext football and baseball? Doubtful. But could it become the next boxing? Probably. I dont want this to happen, because then the future is bleak. Look at how the general public views boxing, as a struggling sport. it appears that MMA receives some insulation from heavy regulation because it is not mainstream. I wonder if this is the way it should stay.
