From Yahoo Sports:
“I just don’t see myself losing,” Irvin said. “I’m expecting to take a lot of damage. I’m expecting to eat a lot of his shots, but I’ve sparred and trained with guys who hit a lot harder than he hits. I’d rather take three or four of his punches than fight someone like Quinton Jackson, who will just knock you out with either hand.
“I don’t think he has that kind of knockout power. I really don’t think he does. I’m not taking anything away from him, because he’s so well-rounded, but I don’t think he has that heavy handed punching power that someone like Scott Smith or Quinton Jackson does.”
Before you get your panties in a wad, let’s think about this. When compared to top strikers, his hitting power isn’t at the top of the list. That’s not to say he can’t knock you out, because he has knocked out some tough chin opponents.
His technique and patience is what makes Silva so damn dangerous. He may not have the heaviest punch in UFC but he is able to throw a lot more and make them count. He doesn’t waste time throwing busy punches. If Anderson Silva is throwing something at you, I would watch out. His punches are thrown for a reason and it’s probably a reason you won’t notice until it’s too late.
However, James Irvin does admit that Silva is the top pound for pound fighter in the world and that he thought Dana White was talking about Wanderlei Silva and not Anderson.
“I thought it was Wanderlei, someone we’ve asked for ever since he’s come here,” Irvin said. “He’s a guy I’d been really wanting to fight. I thought my style would match up real good with his. I never imagined it would be Anderson.
“He seemed so far out of the picture. I don’t really deserve a shot against that guy right now. He’s pound-for-pound the greatest fighter on Earth right now. I’m going to make the most of my moment. I’m going to make the most of July 19 and I’m going to bring the best James Irvin I can that night.”
I don’t think you deserved a shot either Sandman but you got one so don’t blow it. Any time someone refers to themselves in the third person, I think they should automatically get punched in the taint. Mat says one knuckle sandwich right on your sphincter sand boy.
My prediction is probably along with all the others. Anderson Silva wins by TKO in Round 2 with 2:13 on the clock.

I’m glad someone caught the sarcasm.
