Lyoto Machida Comments on Grffin’s Win

Lyoto Machida made a few statements after Forrest Griffin’s win over Rampage:

In my opinion, Quinton defeated Forrest, but they give it to Forrest. I think that now they are going to put him against Chuck Liddell to him to take the belt again. I think they prefer Chuck with the belt, he is a former champion, has more marketing and sell more”

Lyoto, I never knew you to be a business major.  It’s not too far fetched folks.  His statement has validity as I think we all agree that Chuck Liddell is more exciting to watch and we would much rather watch Liddell vs Rampage than Griffin vs Rampage again.

However, his condescending tone is apparent and shows he doesn’t quite agree with this if it is so.  I’m not sure it is so as I think Forrest Griffin won the fight personally.  People keep forgetting that controlling the center of the octagon has it’s own points alone and if you watch the fight again, I bet you can hold your breath longer than the total time that Rampage had control of the center of the octagon.

Either way, I don’t think Griffin will hold the belt too long.  Let’s not forget Anderson Silva moving up either (Lyoto has comments for that as well… see end of post).  This could throw a new twist on things and who will fight who.  Almost enough fighters in the division to make a tournament out of it.  The UFC is on it’s way to an exciting time period with some of the best fighters we’ve ever seen.

I think Anderson is going well at any category. He is fast and very technique, I think this is his difference.

I had never thought about that. He is a very good friend and helps me a lot. He is a little much older than me and always gives me tips, so I don’t want to face him.

I don’t think your alone buddy… I don’t think anyone wants to face him.  Others will but I don’t think anyone feels good going into a fight against Anderson Silva.
