For those of you who didn’t see, BJ Penn entered the octagon after GSP’s win over Fitch. BJ Penn made it clear that he wanted to fight GSP. GSP’s response was more than welcoming. He said he will fight anyone that deserves it.
So does BJ deserve a shot at GSP? This is probably a touchy subject and will piss off 50% of most fans regardless of the stance I take. So here goes it… I say no. That’s right, I say no. I don’t think he deserves a shot at GSP right away. I think he should have to fight a few others in 170 before he fights GSP.
Just because he is the top fighter in 155 doesn’t mean he should be given shot at GSP just because he wants it. Make him fight a few others to show he is for real and can stand a chance at that weight class. I would say the same thing about Anderson Silva if he wanted the title shot for the LHW.
And honestly, I think K Flo would give BJ Penn a run for his money. In my opinion BJ Penn is the most overrated top pound for pound fighter. I don’t think you could see him fight consistently as good as he does in 155. I think Fitch would destroy him and we all saw what happened to Fitch against GSP.
However, Dana White has already said he will allow a fight between the two to happen (in post fight interview). I just think he should make Penn fight some other top fighter before just giving him a shot at GSP.

I agree with you. He doesn’t deserve a fight with GSP just yet. Maybe put him in with Matt first? Also, they say i am a dreamer, maybe this is the wrong place, but what do u guys think on the chances of a Fedor/Corture Matchup anytime soon?

first, bj penn already fought gsp at 170 and a lot of experts believe bj won. bj can not only hold his own at 170 but will be the 170 champ jan 31, 2009

Why not BJ Penn? He was a former champ. I dont want to see GSP fight some idiot off of the Ultimate fighter show. Give me a break
