Would be awesome if it happened before end of year but it can’t/won’t. Fedor got Affliction 2 moved from Nov to Oct because of fight in December with Dream meaning he couldn’t fight unless he canceled Dream fight (probably can’t b/c of contract). The next event after Affliction 2 is said to be set for Feb of 09. The question is do they give Arlovski or Barnett (these two will probably fight now in Affliction 2) a shot before Couture.

Fans will say no b/c they want to see Fedor vs Couture but it will piss off Arlovski or Barnett if they don’t get shot first. In all fairness I think it would be better for Fedor to have to fight Arlovski or Barnett in Feb before Couture. At least that way we can see if he’s the real deal and it will make for much more anticipation for the Fedor Couture fight that should be scheduled during a UFC PPV event and aired free, pull Dana’s playbook on himself with what I see as the fight of the decade (at least hyped up wise).

Couture can’t wait that long, age is not on his side. Plus, Affliction wouldn’t want Couture to fight anyone before Fedor because there is a chance he will lose and the fight won’t be AS much of a draw anymore. Arlovski and Barnett can wait, once Couture is available, he will fight Fedor the first chance Affliction can set it up.

Yeah, even in front of the Dream event. Fedor would choose to fight Couture first. It would be more money for him, and the fight he has needed his entire career.

While I understand your point Mat about Afflictions and Fedor’s current schedule, lets get one thing straight. Fighting Couture is the top priority, hands down.

It not anymore. It got cancelled. Arlovski-Barnett is now planned for Affliction 2. Don’t mind you trying to flame, but keep up on the news.

You seem to think there would be no penalty or breach of contract if Fedor canceled his Dream fight. The fight won’t be canceled. It won’t happen before 08 is over. Couture has already said it would like early 09 before they could do it.

To add, it’s affliction’s top priority but Dream doesn’t give a shit about Affliction’s priority.

Everyone else seems to be indicating it could happen before the end of the yar.

I’m sure it could happen. But the likely hood just doesn’t seem high in my opinion.

It may not be relevent at all if Affliction goes down the tubes.
