Dana White Media Conference: Audio and Bullet Points

TO MAKE MAJOR UFC^® ANNOUNCEMENT

Las Vegas, NV (USA) – Dana White, President, Ultimate Fighting Championship^® will hold a media conference call today to make a major UFC^® announcement.

The conference call will take place today, Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 3pm ET/12Noon PT.

• Waiting for all particpants to enter conference
• Meeting pushed back to 4PM EST.
• Portland Holding UFC 91 Rumor not confirmed.  Talking with a lot of venues for this event.
• Brock and Randy Fight will happen first.  Winner will be heavyweight champion.
• Winner of Nogueira vs Mir will fight winner of Brock or Randy for true champion.
• Randy and UFC have no more legal issues.  Everything is settled.
• Depositions with Randy were the furthest it every went legally, never went to court.
• Comprosises made by both sides to get Couture back.
• UFC working diligently to have Fedor vs Couture happen.
• Randy’s will to fight helped settle faster.  Age was definitely a factor and just wanted to fight again.
• Dana says Couture vs Lesnar will be biggest fight in UFC history.
• Randy doesn’t feel ring rest is a big deal.
• Randy is at 224.5 lbs yesterday and expects to weigh same during fight.  Randy not concerned fighting someone larger.
• Randy wants to fight Fedor but doesn’t think it will take away from his legacy if he doesn’t fight him.
• Dana will offer fair deal to Fedor to get him to fight in UFC but ultimately up to Fedor.  Won’t interfere with other persons contract because they know how strong they (UFC) are with theirs.
• Dana will not bend UFC rules about exclusivity to get Fedor.
• Dana is motivated to get Fedor because they want to see who #1 is.  GSP, BJ Penn, Randy all proved their #1.
• Dana feels Affliction will be out of business in a few months and can talk with all their fighters at that time.  Feels that they will be out of business by January.
• Dana expects 1 million + buys for January event.
• Randy feels headed in the right direction and that this is the first step needed.  Also feels management issues he had before were being worked on and are better.
• Dana is keeping interim to determine real champion as the two champions will fight each other to consolidate belts.  (SEE nogueira vs mir fights lesnar vs couture note above)
• Randy is not overlooking Brock Lesnar and will take him very seriously.
• Both feel good to have this problem resolved.
• Dana will not interfere with another organizers contract.  He will wait until Fedor is out of contract to talk with him.
• Dana says Affliction is losing a ton of money and this type of economy won’t let them last.
• Dana doesn’t care what happened in past, he’s just happy to have Randy back.
• Dana wants to know if Fedor is the best and to find out he’ll have to fight in UFC.
• Brock Lesnar doesn’t give a shit about Fedor.  He’s tired of hearing his name.  He’s fighting Couture and doesn’t care.  Some other vulgar language used you’ll hear later.
• Dana says other organizations can take whoever they (UFC) cut.
• Dana says Brock got the fight due to timing.  Would not have got it had it been different timing.
• Brock will be prepared with a gameplan to win the fight.  He will have to cut 15 lbs to make weigh in.
• Randy is returning to UFC under new deal with UFC, not under old contract.
• Dana will NOT sign a one fight deal with Fedor.  He will have to be willing to fight a few fights.
• Brock beginning to get really pissed off hearing Fedor’s name.
• Brock and Couture will happen November 15th at MGM.  (sorry forgot to mention date earlier)
• Mark Cuban (HDNet) was disappointed in Randy’s decision to return to UFC.
