With all prior discontent that I have for Karo Parisyan aside, he somehow pulled out a win versus Dong Hyun Kim this past weekend with a split decision.  Only 1 judge scored the fight 29-28 in favor of Kim which is erroneous.  The following will be what I saw and how I scored the fight.

Round 1:  Karo comes out somewhat strong but gives up his back after a takedown.  While Kim is on his back while standing Karo flips him onto the ground to no avail of regaining position.  At 2:36, Karo finally gets back up into the standing and fails a takedown attempt.  From here to the end of the round Karo doesn’t do anything besides almost get caught in a triangle and then an armbar.  Finishing the round with Kim controlling a grapple and throwing continuous knees.  Round 1 10-9 in favor of Kim.

Round 2:  Starts off the same with small blows from Karo with an attempted takedown and kimura.  At this point in the fight Karo’s mouthguard falls out yet again (The heckling by Joe Rogan for not having a professional mouthguard is rather hilarious).  Karo performs a fairly nice hip throw and takes side control but loses his mouth guard again and he is given a warning.  While at the side of the ring it’s unclear whether or not he was stalling which infuriated me since he was showing signs of already being gassed.  The round ended with Karo winning a small stand up exchange.  Round 2 10-9 in favor of Parisyan.

Round 3:  Kim scores a takedown, and take an upkick to the face while he was down.  They stop the fight and issue a warning to Karo.  Let’s stop and talk about this really quick.  Kim was in Karo’s fullguard and postured up to meet the bottom of his foot with his face.  Personally, this is where I think Karo should have been penalized a point for an illegal head kick.  There’s a big difference between a chest push and a kick to the head, and all but his heel hit Kim in the face.  Back to the fight.  Kim gets on Karo’s back yet again.  So you’re thinking, “wow, Kim was practically dominating Parisyan the majority of the fight”, which was the exact thought process I had.  Karo scores a really weak takedown and they get back up.  The finish of the fight is Kim controlling with a takedown attempt, and then a sweep.  Karo ends with a trip and small blows that mostly miss.  Round 3: 10-9 Kim

This puts my scorecard at 29-28 in favor of Dong Hyun Kim.  He pushed the fight, maintained great control of Karo for the majority of the fight and took very few blows.  Where does Karo get a justified win in this fight?  I’m not sure, maybe someone else can fill me in on some big points that I missed.  Karo’s a chump, and there’s definitely better fighters out there who would be more deserving of a UFC contract in the middleweight division.  I pray that he never gets a shot at the title for his own good so that Silva doesn’t kill him in the ring.

In closing, always remember that sporks are the best option to any picnic silverware.

I have to agree 100% Kim should of had that with at least a split decision. The only round Karo worked in was the first but Kim still dominated him and kept control. Sometimes I wonder about these judges and even at times the refs should speak out. That kick it the head from on the ground for example. The ref at the last gsp fight, I never once heard what he had to say about the vaseline issue. IMO the ref’s need to start doing what they are being paid for. Another example at fight night last night, the ref stopped that one kind of early, he didnt even give Stojnic a chance to defend himself he called it so fast, but when Stojnic had Valasquez down earlier he let him sit there and pound him and he recovered. Sorry I ranted.

lol Actually you’re the biggest chump overall and your view sucks at judging the fight!! First of all karo is STILL the most excititng fighter and brings it 100%! Second just casue a fight is close doesn’t mean the other guy won! YES it was close but karo ONLY lost the first round and he droped don’s ass all over the place and PROVED who’s judo belongs in MMA and pulled out the edge in the third!!! You obviously don’t have any clue about MMA or even know anything in general!!! lol So making it clear for your puny brain, karo won the split decsion fare and square you should watch the fight again!!! Karo is only 26 with an MMA record of 26-5! Has faced nothing but tough opponents since he was 14 in MMA with grown ass men when some of you were probably in your diapers! His judo ROCKS and no one can adopt his style! Just casue a fighter has some obstacles in their lives doesn’t change the FACT that they are still talented and an excititng fighter! As a coach having my own school I understand more about mma rules than some uneducated wannabes who have never wore a gove in their lives and just like to throw their 2 lame cents in LOL… He has a 8 fight contract and has ONLY lost to 2 tough opponents in the UFC gsp and thiago the diego fight was all bullshit even a blind man can see karo won the first 2 rounds easily and only lost the last minute of the third due to his cardio!!! That fight should have been a split decesion to karo parisyan not unanimous to diego!! PATHETIC!!!! Karo made that the fight of the YEAR and you call a skilled and talented fighter like karo a chump just cause of his recent bout??????? wow it sucks being a dumbass like you buddy learn MMA and be in one before talking out of your ass!! Just one throw from karo is 10 times excititng than watching fighters like sherk kos and other boring ass wrestlers for 3 rounds!!!! Dana knows karo talent and see his heart that’s why karo is the only ufc fighter that has a 8 fight contract no one else I rest my case =)) lol!

haha reading your thoughts again about the fight its rather funny. There was NO domination nor anything to be roobed LMFAO!! Healthy kim couldn’t even throw karo or finish him and his a “judo champ” haha but karo with a torn hamstring and feeling drowsy doped his ass like nothing and out the decesion!! Damn if karo was feeling pain free and not on anything he would have killed don lol

“I pray that he never gets a shot at the title for his own good so that Silva doesn’t kill him in the ring.” HAHAHAHAH karo’s not in middleweight . WOW it seems like you know your shit LMAOOOO… He had his shot title shot at the age of 21 with 32 year old hughes when he ripped his hamstring during training! Other fighters were not even around when karo had his title shot… btw, his in WELTERWEIGHT NOT MIDDLEWEIGHT GET IT????? LOL

karo parisyan’s shots did connect and he had great elbows and sweep trip and that beautiful judo thow! He also had kim in a scary kumara and came close to the third round. Karo came close and won the 3rd and I’ve seen the fight several times in details.
