Amir SadollahIt’s been quite some time since we last got to see Amir Sadollah fight in the octagon and it will be even longer now.  Amir Sadollah who was scheduled to fight Nick Catone this Saturday on the UFC 91 fight card has been forced to withdraw from his fight due to a “leg infection”.

To me it sounds like a staff infection but those terms weren’t used in any reports and is purely my own personal speculation.  Normally a replacement fighter would be on call but the UFC was unable to find a replacement for this fight so it was scratched all together.  Dustin Hazelett vs Tamdan McCrory will take the fights place on the main card.

It seems this has been happening quite a bit around the league.  Diego Sanchez was the most recent occurence of this.  Something has to be done about last minute injuries like this. Fighters should be fined for injuries that could or should have been prevented.

Maybe I’m being a bit harsh but I’m tired of getting all hyped up for a particular fight and then it get scratched last minute.  I was stoked about Alves vs Sanchez and had to watch Koscheck fight instead.  There’s a reason the orginal fight was scheduled over a backup fight in the first place.  Am I being too harsh?  Should I relax and let it go?

It’s a fight and you have to train hard up until the fight. There is no way to train hard and prevent injuries. That is ridiculous idea to fine fighters for getting hurt. I fight and train smart but I spar hard and things happen. How can a person prevent a staff infection other than making sure he or she does not leave any wounds uncovered. Injuries happen and fights get changed or scratched, just the way it is. If you don’t like find another sport.
