WEC 36 in Tampa FL is set to take place tomorrow November 5th after it being moved due to hurricane activity in FL that ended up not even effecting the event. Nonetheless, here are our predictions for the main card for WEC 36:
WEC 36 Urijah Faber vs Mike Brown
It’s really hard to say anyone will come in and beat Faber. Some people are picking Brown for a big upset but I’m staying on the Urijah bandwagon. Until he shows me a weakness against his weight class, he will continue to have my vote on all his fights.
Prediction: Urijah Faber win by KO in Round
WEC 36 Paulo Filho vs. Chael Sonnen
Big rematch fight however, recent news from MMA Junkie reported Filho missed weight and this is now a non title affair. Filho originally beat Sonnen in December of 2007 via submission in round 2. The belt for this weight class is rather moot as the weight class will be folded into the UFC and the WEC belts will mean nothing after that.
I digress… the first fight wasn’t without controversy. Sonnen was yelling in pain but said he didn’t submit. Filho looked good in his fight and I expect the second fight to go his way again.
Prediction: Paul Filho by Submission Round 2
WEC 36 Leonard Garcia vs. Jens Pulver
This is an exciting matchup. Leonard Garcia fought against Roger Huerta in the UFC and put up one hell of a fight against him. A lot of people are probably giving this fight to Pulver but something in my gut says go with Garcia. The guy has tremendous Jiu Jitsu and if he can utilize the ground game against Pulver, you have to give the fight to him. I think he’ll be able to utilize it.
Prediction: Leonard Garcia by Submission Round 3
WEC 36 Nissen Osterneck vs. Jake Rosholt
I’m not familiar with either fighter that much so this prediction is based on paper stats I read up on. Both fighters making their debut for WEC in this fight. Nissen is an amazing Jiu Jitsu fighter with a 64 – 4 Jiu Jitsu record. Obviously in his favor if this fight hits the mat. However, Rosholt is a very good wrestler so his goal will be to keep the fight standing and go for the TKO.
Prediction: Jake Rosholt by KO in Round 3
You can catch the fights live on Versus TV Wednesday November 5th. You can catch our live play by coverage on YouCastr. We start broadcasting about 15 minutes before the fights start so tune in to get some pre fight hype. We will also have our 7 PM Weekly Beatdown show and hope to get Urijah Faber on the horn to talk with us before his fight.
